Sunny days. Ocean breezes. Sandy shores. Leafy palm trees. Cool jazzy sounds spiked with pop, hip-hop, reggae, soul, calypso, even some street-corner swing, all in the service of positive vibes, spiritual uplift and “don’t worry, be happy” fun. Look beyond those alluring, seductive Surfaces, though, and that’s where the three-dimensional musical depth of the band’s principals, Colin Padalecki and Forrest Frank, truly shines through. The Texas based duo, who met on SoundCloud in 2017, have increasingly meshed their individual talents into one impressive whole. After two self-produced albums, Surf and Where the Light Is, the duo continue to share their optimistic vibes with their February 2020 released album Horizons.
With over220 million global streams to-date, and 20 million monthly listeners onSpotify,
2020 has already been a whirlwind year for the Texas duo; Horizons comes on the heels of a sold-out headliningNorth American tour and breakout single “Sunday Best” surpassing over 180million streams. The band made their TV debut with a performance of “Sunday Best” on Late Night WithSeth Meyers on March 2nd.
“This past year has been absolutely insane for us and we can’t wait to see what 2020 has in store or us,” says Surfaces. “With our new album Horizons, we wanted to break away from any expectations or norms and our hope is to challenge the uniformity of a regular concept album. For this project, we took influences from multiple decades and reimagined them in order to repaint these emotions in a modern musical pallet.”
